Why was the UKII set up?

The UK Innovation Initiative is the direct result of the difficulties experienced by Erudine, a now successful innovative small business. Despite the plethora of aid, support and advice from various agencies and bodies, Erudine found that the core issues hindering innovation are about clashing mindsets and business processes (such as procurement and due diligence) which are obstructive and unsuited to facilitating adoption of innovation so sorely needed by corporates.

Frustrated by this ongoing situation and determined that good ideas among other innovators less fortunate than themselves, Martin Rice, Erudine's CEO, resolved to put a stake in the ground to facilitate mindset change by both innovators (who need to be more business focussed) and corporates (which need to review their approach to risk when looking for innovation).

The UKII is the result, with an educative role, a facilitating role and a lobbying role, all designed to narrow the gap in the UK between innovators and corporate business.
