About UKII

Who we are.

UK Innovation Initiative is an altruistic organisation that works across a range of sectors to identify truly innovative technology in information security, and to bring this innovation to the right decision makers within large corporations. In this way, we help innovators ‘bridge the chasm’ into the corporate world.

Supported by an Advisory Panel of senior corporate IT users, the UK Innovation Initiative has a wealth of experience, invaluable to an SME Innovator wanting to enter and understand the corporate world. We have panel members spanning from the finance sector to the defence sector, and from Government to the transport industry. The Advisory Panel are used for their advice and experience and are not only highly knowledgable about what is needed within their sector, but they also have a desire to ensure that Innovation is adopted by UK industry to benefit UK Plc.

We provide the framework for evaluating technical competence and ensuring that innovation is positioned in business terms. Through our close links with the corporate world, we help identify current “pain points” and reduce the “noise” experienced by end-user decision-makers, to ensure that truly creative and innovative SME’s are not lost.

Creating the space for debate.

The Innovation Initiative is keen to generate debate between corporates and innovative SME’s. We want to encourage communication between the two groups, specifically looking at how best to tackle the current obstacles and bottlenecks to identifying innovation and bridging the gap to securing its adoption by business.

We want to help IT innovators identify mindset change areas to communicate effectively with large organisations; and to help large organisations recognise mindset change areas, such as procurement and due diligence process, to facilitate adoption of innovation when found.

Why the focus on IT Security/Business Risk Reduction?

As mainstream business moves increasingly to the Internet, company boards have become increasingly aware of the potential risks to corporate and brand reputation, and perception. Security therefore in its widest sense is a very broad application of technology. The principles and process behind the UK Innovation Initiative are applicable to a range of technology related application areas.
The focus on Information Security reflects its importance across business in today’s world.
With the profile of business risk assessment rising steeply within organisations, the need to ‘futureproof’ new security-related products has never been greater. The UKII believes that a constructive review of innovation adoption is needed, and that competitive advantage would be granted to those businesses which better understood the challenges faced by innovators.
